LOGIC INSTRUMENT, a leading provider of rugged notebooks and tablet PCs for extreme environments, confirmed its continuing international expansion with the signing of a $785,000 contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) of India, which specializes in the manufacture of electronic products for the defense industry.
The Battle Field Surveillance Radar-Short Range (BFSR-SR) is a man portable 2D short range radar developed by the Indian Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). The BFSR is manufactured by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and is used to secure India’s sovereign borders and prevent infiltration. Over 1100 units are in use by the Indian Army along with orders placed with BFSR from other foreign countries.
As part of a modernization program, the existing control and display unit (CDU) will be replaced by militarized notebooks from LOGIC INSTRUMENT. BFSR selected the TETRAnote EX15, which provides superior resistance to harsh environmental conditions, emits low levels electromagnetic radiation in accordance to the MIL-STD461F and features a highly detailed, sunlight-readable 15” display. In addition, a specialized extension box was developed, which converts all necessary interfaces of the TETRAnote EX15 to MILSPEC compliant connectors.

The new contract with an amount of $785,000 is starts in Q-4 2011 and will continue until 2013. This announcement confirms LOGIC INSTRUMENT’s continued expansion and the targeting of new international markets.
